Custom Pet Portraits for Refined Interiors
Studio Linnæus is a boutique pet portrait studio based in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in museum-quality animal portraits for art- and design-minded pet owners. Led by an artist with a contemporary art career spanning three decades, the studio reinterprets art-historical traditions through a modern lens.
Our Creative Process
Animals meet us without judgment or pretense, inviting us into a rare sincerity that resists superficial depiction. At Studio Linnæus, we do not trace or replicate client photographs; we create original works of fine art. AI is used sparingly and deliberately—to generate raw material that remains inert until transformed by the artist’s vision and critical discernment. Each portrait develops through a careful interplay of digital and manual processes, guided by extensive expertise in anatomy, color, composition, light, perspective, movement, texture, balance, and symbolism — important artistic principles a machine can only approximate and photo-copying entirely overlooks. The result is work that is precise, expressive, and layered: visually striking, emotionally resonant, and designed to capture the presence and spirit of the animals we connect with so deeply.
Museum‑Quality Materials
Each client receives two bespoke design concepts to choose from: one that aligns closely with their vision, and another that explores alternative possibilities. The chosen piece is meticulously color‑calibrated for tonal accuracy and dynamic range. It is printed on the finest 190gsm archival cotton papers from Hahnemühle, Canson, or Moab, then presented in our signature mid-century modern frames, hand-crafted from premium U.S. oak with nail-free joinery.
Lage Scale Commissions
For architects, interior designers, and residential clients seeking larger-scale works, these highly detailed pet portrait designs can be fully customized and produced on a variety of materials at dimensions up to 80 × 120 inches, including wallpaper.
Hand-Painted Legacy Commissions
For collectors seeking hand-painted pet portraits rather than our museum-quality archival prints, Studio Linnæus accepts a limited number of hand-painted pet portrait commissions each year. These oil paintings and pencil drawings are labor-intensive works of art, beginning at $5,000, with a current waitlist of approximately six months.
